Classic Japan: The Golden Route

About Japan

Japan is a country with a rich history and distinct culture, and on this Japan tour, you’ll get a taste of both. You’ll overnight in Tokyo, the Mount Fiji area, and Kyoto. Along the way, you’ll see stunning scenery and visit many of Japan’s celebrated sites.

You’ll visit some of Japan’s most famous shrines and temples on this Japan tour. In Tokyo, visit Meiji Shrine, built in the 1920s to enshrine the emperor, and Asakusa Kannon Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple completed in 645 AD. In Kyoto, visit the Temple of the Gold Pavilion, a Buddhist temple covered in gold leaf constructed in the 14th century; the Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of brightly colored shrine gates; Kiyomizu Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded in 778 AD with amazing views over Kyoto; and Nijo Castle, the official residence of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.

In addition to visiting Japan’s famous sites, on this tour you’ll also learn about the culture. Learn to write like a local in your calligraphy class, try on a traditional kimono, and partake in a traditional tea ceremony. But that’s not all…you’ll also ride one of Japan’s famous bullet trains and visit the Mount Fuji area, where you’ll cruise on Lake Ashi, a crater lake, and take a cable-car ride for panoramic views of Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain.

All of this—and more—await you on this value-minded tour through Japan!
